In return for opening a checking account at a new credit union and setting up auto-pay from it to my loan, I got approved for my car loan today at 3.74% fixed for 60 months. Woot! Not quite the 0% my dream utopia would provide, but a heck of a lot better than the 6.2% the dealership offered and much better even than the 4.99% the credit union I normally bank at insisted was the lowest they could go. Psssh. Amateurs. Incidentally, the new credit union is the same bank I financed my truck with. Their initial offer was higher, but they agreed to match the rate my Mom’s credit union was offering. Thanks, Mom!
