…and the Doc said, no more citrine!

I started beading a new bellydance bra last night. Normally, it would be much easier and worth the price to just buy one already made but, in this case, I need something specific that I would be hard pressed to find. So, I’m doing it myself and getting flak from my chiropractor in the process. He was amused by the reason behind my knotted shoulders, however, and made sure it went in my chart.

In my own defense, it’s really hard to sit properly and do beadwork. It can be done, but it’s really awkward and makes the work go much more slowly. After a day and a half of working on it, I’m maybe a quarter of the way finished and can already tell that I’m going to need to buy more citrine.

I’m on the market for a new chiropractor, too. The one taking over Javid’s practice is just too hesitant with me and I don’t really want to spend the money waiting for him to figure me out. Fortunately, my acupuncturist had someone to recommend who sounds very promising. This one is a bit further away than the last, but I’m willing to drive a little for quality.

Dance of the seven veils

We did a performance for a big group of students at UCSD Sunday night. I still get stage fright, but it seemed a little less intrusive this time. One of my classmates, who has been taking lessons with another instructor as well, did a veil dance – not to be confused with a dance with a veil. If you know what you’re doing, you can do some really cool things with a large piece of flimsy fabric.

Last night I started learning veil work. Once I get over the fumbling to find the edges and remember how to spot so I don’t get dizzy on spins, I’m sure it will be beautiful. Unfortunately, she also made us do arm movements. When Sohaila does them, her arms are a smoothly flowing extension of her fingers; graceful and lovely. My arms, when I remember to move them at all, are alien intelligences bent on impersonating scary dead trees. She says practicing the veil movements will help. Good god, I hope she’s right.

Digitalpixie online

The rest of the site is back up, woot! Sorry for the disturbance. I almost didn’t notice it myself until I tried to show a co-worker the picture of my kitchen. The Fates were obviously conspiring to spare him.

Thanks to my Dad, I picked up another fun website to publish at www.LoPrestiFury.com. He did most of the design work, but I learned some new things putting it together. I’ve been promised a ride in one of these babies, which suddenly gives me a very compelling reason to visit Florida.
